Adams Memorial Commissioners Make the Bipartisan Case in The Hill

Four members of the U.S. House of Representatives who serve on the Adams Memorial Commission came together on the Hill on September 18, 2026 to make a shared case: honoring the Adams family is something Americans of every party can support. In their op-ed, “Congress Can Come Together to Honor the Adams Family,” Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.), Rep. William R. Keating (D-Mass.), Rep. Stephen F. Lynch (D-Mass.), and Rep. John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) write that while they represent different parts of the country and different political perspectives, they are united in the belief that John Adams, Abigail Adams, John Quincy Adams, and their remarkable family deserve a permanent memorial in our nation’s capital. The commissioners trace the family’s service across generations: John Adams as a leading voice for independence, a diplomat, and the second president; Abigail Adams as a trusted adviser whose letters remain an enduring record of the founding era; and John Quincy Adams as a diplomat, secretary of state, sixth president, and later a member of the House.
